Meet The Grandson

Congratulate me! I am the proud grandmother of ED (Evil Device).

Don't let his sleek, cheerful exterior fool you. This little 10 digit bundle of connection is nothing but a 24/7 distraction. It's funny how a person can send and receive thousands of text messages from peers, but never seems to get the one text message mom sends. Well, I have adopted ED as my grandson. He now resides with me at night. He also spends his evenings with me while the boy gets his homework done. While in grandmother's care, ED is learning better language, balance and boundaries, and good sleeping habits. ED's dad, the boy, is also learning stuff, like Spanish because ED will not pass from grandma's hand to the boy's hand until his Spanish homework is done, better sleeping habits, and a whole slew of things, like the benefits of uninterrupted conversation. Who knew that parenting in the 21st century would involve the need for parents to babysit electronics?

Go Figure

While watching commercials the other night (it's so nice that the powers that be slip some programming in for us to view in between the commercials), the trailer for the new Three Stooges Movie came on. This is the brief conversation that happened after we viewed the ridiculous trailer.

Me: "I just cannot believe that The Three Stooges was made into a movie!"

Husband: "I just cannot believe it took so long!"

Go figure...

Tell Me

That's it! I quit. When you have children, everyone says, "Oh, congratulations!" Why is that? Shouldn't they be warning you that those bundles of dirty diapers and throw up will turn on you someday. Why don't they tell you that dirty babies turn into dirty toddlers who cry when you try to clean them up? Why don't they tell you that it doesn't matter how many times you tell them to pick up their dirty laundry, they won't? Why don't they tell you when you discipline your children they turn it back around on you and then they tell the whole world how mean you are? Why do they say that "kids keep you young." Not in my experience! They age you! They give you wrinkled foreheads for all the times you worry about them. They give you grey hair. They give you stress induced eating habits. They give you headaches and heartaches. They drain your bank account. They compare you to these phantom friends whose parents are way cooler than you are and let their kids stay out past midnight. They roll their eyes at you before you even get a chance to speak because they anticipate the dumb and annoying things you are going to say to them. Aren't adults suppose to stick together? Aren't we suppose to warn each other? And aren't we suppose to remember April first is April fools day? : )
